The CWDM’s Municipal Health Services (MHS) is excited to announce the arrival of its branded minibus that will be used for school and community engagements.
The MHS environmental health practitioners are responsible for nine functions that ensure the safety of the environments in which we live, play and work.
One method of achieving this is through education and awareness programmes presented at schools, farms, factories, and other manufacturing plants. The team has designed easy-to-understand images that describe their functions, which create awareness about the important role MHS plays in society and support existing programmes.
The National Health Act, 2003 (Act 61 of 2003) lists the functions of Municipal Health Services as follows:
- Water quality monitoring
- Food control
- Waste management
- Health surveillance of premises
- Surveillance and prevention of communicable diseases, excluding immunisation
- Vector control
- Environmental pollution control
- Disposal of human remains
- Chemical safety
